President warns Frente Amplio she will not allow "gender ideology" back into schools.

Speaking at a municipal council meeting in Nicoya, President Laura Fernandez warned deputies and former deputies of the left-wing Frente Amplio party that, for as long as she remains president, she will not permit former Frente Amplio lawmakers to enter classrooms. She said she was proud that her administration had removed what she called “gender ideology” from schools and colleges, and asserted that such ideas have no place in the education system under her leadership.
The remarks continue the government’s pattern of framing gender identity and inclusive education as an external imposition to be purged from public schools, a stance that erases trans, non-binary and gender-diverse students and strips protections previously in place to counter discrimination and bullying against them.
