Sala IV rules government violated LGBTIQ+ rights by revoking Pride march declaration.

The Constitutional Chamber (Sala IV) unanimously ruled that the government of President Rodrigo Chaves violated the fundamental rights of the LGBTIQ+ community by revoking the cultural-interest declaration of the 2024 Pride and Diversity March just one day before the event. The magistrates found the revocation lacked objective and technical foundation and was an arbitrary, “absolutely untimely” act against a minority and vulnerable population, flagrantly violating its rights; the court did, however, reject claims that the revocation left the march without adequate police presence. The underlying decision (case 2024-035183) had earlier cost two officials their posts, Culture Minister Nayuribe Guadamuz and Social Inclusion Commissioner Ricardo Sosa.
